A morning on Bentley pool 5
September 2009
After a few days of heavy rain it
was nice to wake up to a dry if somewhat overcast day. Alan Daz and I
take turns to pick the venue, it was Alan’s choice, a new water for us
all. There was nobody else fishing what is a nice size pool of about 15
well spaced pegs. A flip of coins and the pegs are decided (still big
kids at heart). We were catching very small carp and roach when Daz let
out a yelp, got a good en on he screeched. We went over to watch, after
a good 20mins the audience doubled it was Ernie and Dominic (head water
keeper and assistant head bailiff). Daz was only using a 3lb hook
length with luncheon meat bait, we were not expecting this class of
fish , however after a titanic struggle lasting about 45mins in all the
fish was on the bank. It was a splendid carp at a couple of ounces less
than 20lbs. It was a pleasure to meet Ernie and Dominic for the first
time, they were genuinely pleased we enjoyed ourselves. Our thanks to
them and all the committee for a very well ran club. Our only problem
is stopping Daz talking about the catch for the next year or two.

The Williams family had a great day
out, recently, on
this lovely water which is fishing very well at the moment. Their total
catch came close to 40lb of fish with superb Bream, good Roach and Rudd
to 1lb and some really nice Tench. All the fish are from BMAC stocking
that took place some years ago. Catches were either side of the island
using rod and line with maggot and corn.bb.
