Water reports

Blackshaws
July 2006
Myself
and my
Ellie fished Blackshaws Pool on 16/07/06 from 7pm to 8:30pm. The
reason I fished this pool was that we have had few catch reports
since 2002 so I decided to give it a try to see whether people
had been catching. We arrived at 6:45 and decided to fish the
deep pegs next to the the large oak tree. I set up two swims with
pellet and chopped worm fishing 6ft deep and over depth by 3in
with a small piece of worm. We tried 10 mins in each swim with no
bites. We then noticed, about 8 metres out, that fish were
topping for the flies that had fallen into the water. I decided
to catapult 3 to 5 caster out every 30 seconds and made a shallow
rig with a small dibber float fishing small chopped worm on a
size 18 hook at 8 metres. Within seconds my float had gone and I
had caught a nice 10oz hybrid Roach. This continued for about an
hour then I hit 2 Perch up in the water, the second one being the
best weighing 1-4-0, this was followed by a 1-5-0 Roach hybrid
with plenty of small bits in between. The fish only seemed to be
interested in worm or maggot, didn't get a bite on pellet, punch
bread or paste. I think we had a great evenings fishing on this
water and will be going back soon because I know there are big
tench and bream to catch here. If anybody has had a good days
fishing on this water please let the water reports know. Peter

"Paul
Razzell enjoyed some early morning fishing on
Blackshaws Pool. Fishing from 4 am till 8:30 am there was an
eerie chill in the air but them fish were biting. Catching Roach
4oz to 8oz, Roach/bream hybrids 8oz to 12 oz and reasonable sized
perch.
Catching close in by the reeds but Paul had to fish further out
later as the fish became more wary. Some large fish spotted on
the surface but couldn't be tempted this time."
