PEOVER GAME AND
COUNTRY FAIR REPORT
Here we are again, another Peover Show with Bay
Malton being there to support angling and the countryside. Many
visitors enquired about the club plus a number of existing members
popped in to say hello; a special thanks to them.
Amongst other visitors were councillor Kathy Bullock, a
prominent
T.M.B. councillor, who was very impressed with our stand and
congratulated us on our work for angling and the environment. Another
visitor to our stand was Jan Porter, taking a break from his fishing
demonstration. Jan called a couple of times for a chat and a look at
the club's gallery. He was very impressed with the River Dane and the
quality of the fish, especially the Barbel which he says are
as
good as anything that has come out of some larger rivers. Praise indeed
for the club.
All in all the weekend was a
great success and, hopefully, next year will be even better. Try to
come along you may find you enjoy the day. Ernie

URGENT
NOTICE!
Warning, for the attention of all BMAC members. You may or
may not be aware of a very serious outbreak of a virus that is killing
thousands of Carp in fisheries throughout the area. The Environment
Agency are, as yet, not certain what this virus is, but it could be as
serious as the foot and mouth outbreak in cattle some years ago. So I
am informing all BMAC members that it may be necessary to close all of
the club's still waters in the near future. This would be done to
protect the club's fish stocks and the very future of the club itself.
In the meantime you, the members, can help. Please
dip all nets when entering or leaving any fishery. Do not use the same
tackle nets etc. each day. It is also important to thoroughly dry all
your nets and tackle after use.
Please act
responsibly as your sport is depending on it. If you require any
further information do not hesitate to contact myself (Ernie) or any
member of the BMAC committee. Thanks. Enie Shufflebotham, Head water
keeper, BMAC.
Known waters affected so far
are: River Weaver, Trent and Mersey Canal, Bridgewater Canal, Winsford
Flash, Ackers Pit.

BOSTOCK MEADOW
ENTRANCE
Could all members fishing the River Dane at Bostock Meadow
please use the Middlewich Road entrance and not the Manor Lane
entrance. The sign at Middlewich Road has gone walkabouts but this will
be rectified in the next few days.
June 25th 2005
IMPORTANT
- PLEASE READ
As from today, June 25th 2005, there will be a
keepnet ban on all B.M.A.C. waters until further notice. It will be a
great help if members who read this could pass it on to others whom
they think may not read it, for whatever reason. Over the next week
there will be dipping tanks installed on all our waters. All landing
nets must be dipped before use.

FOR

MOOR
POOL TEMP. CLOSURE
A number of people have asked why Moor Pool is
closed. This is for health check to be carried out with the help of the
E.A. I believe there have been reports of ulcerated fish.
BULLETIN BOARD
It has been decided that the bulletin board will
cease to be from June 18th 2005. I would like to add that this has
nothing to do with the behaviour of posters, which on the whole has
been good, and it may be that in a couple of months time some sort of
forum will reappear. For now, however, time to say goodbye.
WE NEED YOUR HELP
The water reports pages and gallery need your
help. In the case of the gallery this is going to be rebuilt over the
coming weeks and badly needs some of your up to date images. The water
reports pages are one of the most visited on this site but need
updating, so a few lines, even without an image, on where you have
fished lately will be greatly appreciate. To submit use e mail.
In the
subject line please insert your membership number and gallery or water
report. If you are including an image please insert this into the body
of the e mail, as attachments are rarely opened, together with as many
words as you wish: where, when, how, etc.
BROOKHOUSE
UPDATE
Brookhouse Pool will remain closed for the next two months.
The reason for this is that the weed problem is going to be chemically
treated after which the water will have to be continuously monitored.
During this time the rest of the road round the the pool will be
completed.
NOT LONG UNTIL JUNE 16th
I am sure that a
great many club members are eagerly looking forward to June 16th and
getting down to the river where you will have a great day. Please
remember to take your club card, a valid E.A. licence and to display
the club sticker in your vehicle window.
For the protection
of us all; if any of those items are missing you will be asked to leave
the water immediately. Thanks for your help and co-operation.
AN ENJOYABLE DAY AND YOU HELP A CHARITY TOO
There are just a few
places left on the cystic fibrosis charity match, June 19th. This will
be fished on the Maridian Canal at the Border complex with the draw
taking place at 2pm. Pegs are only ?10.00 plus pools. To book your spot
telephone Phil Royle (after 6pm) on 0161 776 2849.
BROOKHOUSE POOL TEMPORARILY CLOSED
As a result of a serious
incident that has occurred to the landowners property at this venue
this water will now be closed until further notice.
Someone
has damaged his security gates beyond repair and broken into the
buildings and stolen a considerable amount of valuable equipment. Not
only this but they have also smashed all of the security lighting and
the security system. In order to secure his property the landowner has
had to weld the gates shut and provide new locks which the club key
will not fit.
Once this has been rectified it will be
posted on the website/forum.
The committee can only
apologise for the inconvenience which is beyond our control and with a
bit of luck this water will be open for business as usual before too
long.
EA Licence - April 2005
Just a friendly
reminder for everyone that last years EA Licence ran out on March 31st
and that you will need to renew it before venturing out onto the
waters. The easiest and quickest way is to go on-line at www.ea-transactions.gov.uk
which covers you to fish with immediate effect, you just need a copy of
the confirmation e-mail with your new licence number on it.
Please
be aware that the EA will be doing checks at Border Fisheries over the
next few weeks along will some of our other waters so make sure you are
in possession of a current and valid licence or you could end up with a
hefty fine, maximum ?2,500
Angling Times Super Cup - Feb 2005
This match was cancelled at the last minute due to the canal being
frozen over and has been rescheduled for 6th March with a possible
change in the venue being muted.
River Dane/Bostock Green -
Jan 2005
The access that we normally use to the small car park is
temporarily closed due to circumstances beyond the clubs control. The
farmer has had contractors working in the area and they have made the
road down to the car park inaccessible. You will be notified as soon as
this is rectified.
Angling Times Super Cup - Jan 2005
This first round match will take place on the Macclesfield Canal at
Fools Nook on 20th Feb. A practise match has been booked for the squad
on 6th Feb.
Angling Times Super Cup Draw - Jan 2005
Once
again the gods were against BMAC with the match squad having been dealt
another away draw for the up and coming Angling Times Super Cup. In
fact the club have never had a home draw in five attempts which has
unfortunately meant an early exit each year although it has been very
close on a few occasions. This years draw sees the lads up against
Total Fishing.Com and Prince Albert AS when with a bit of good fortune
they will hopefully progress through to the next
round...............come on lads you can do it!
River Dane
Championship - Dec 2004
Although not yet confirmed there is a good
chance that the River Dane Championship will be fished over three
matches incorporating the three different lengths that the club
control. This should make for an interesting series, we all know what
Cotton Farm id capable of but Bostock Green is a stretch that has been
very much under fished by the members and whilst some anglers have
struggled to catch there have been others that have had good results. A
match on there might just throw up a few surprises. The new stretch is
also a bit of an unknown but does hold good Chub, Roach, Dace and
Grayling. Full details will be posted when they are available.
Moor
Pool - Dec 2004
A new lock has been installed at Moor Pool so
please remember to take your key with you when fishing at this venue. A
new stone path is also to be laid round this water in due course.
CLUB
MATCH RECORD BROKEN AGAIN - Nov 2004
Barry Holmes has raised the
clubs match record up to a massive 73lb 8oz when he came out on top in
a recent match on the Meridian Canal down at Border Fisheries. Barry
pole fished his way to a mainly carp based net of fish which is even
more impressive considering the time of the year. The water has been
fishing consistently well though and all the match results can be
viewed here.
AGM - 6TH DEC.
Don't forget that this years AGM will soon be
here. As usual it will be at Dunham Massey Village Hall when hopefully
there will be a good turn out and the members can raise any issues with
the committee.
BENTLEYS POOL OPEN AGAIN - Oct 2004
More
good news this week as Bentleys Pool is now also open again after the
repairs to the dam wall on the top pool were completed. A word of
caution though, there is still some work to be done on the footbridge
and this must not be used as it is still considered unsafe.
MANOR
POOL OPEN AGAIN - Oct 2004
Manor Pool is now open again and
available for fishing after the recent repairs to the staging were
completed at this venue.
BORDER FISHERIES - Oct 2004
Things have started very well for BMAC at Border Fisheries in the first
week of ownership. A number of the members have reported 100lb+ nets of
Carp in pleasure sessions and there have been two matches so far with a
top weight of 46lb recorded. Further details of the match results can
be found here.
PROPOSED PRICE RISE IN CLUB CARD - Oct 2004
There is a proposal
for a price rise in the club card for next year of ?10.00 There seems
to be some form of misguided preconception that this is to pay for
Border Fisheries. The committee would like to state that this has
nothing to do with Border Fisheries which will be a self financing
project but is to pay for the five other new waters that we have
acquired this last 12 months and to provide better facilities at the
existing waters and improve the stocking levels. The club are always
looking for bigger and better waters and have always had the members
interests at heart, we are talking about a 20 pence a week rise which
will provide the necessary security to continue in this vein.
CLUB
CHAMPION AGAIN - Oct 2004
Congratulation to Les Hunt on retaining
the title he won last year. Les has totally dominated the Club
Championship for the last two years and fully deserves his rewards
after framing in nearly every match he fished. It was in the second
half of the season that he really piled on the pressure notching up
three consecutive wins to move clear in front of the rest of the field
and from there he never looked back, well done mate. Now who is capable
of stopping him making it a hat trick of wins next season?
FUR
& FEATHER - Oct 2004
Les Hunt capped a tremendous season by
winning the Fur & Feather match at Tunnel Barn Farm with 47lb
of
small Carp. Not only that he also went on to win the pairs event with
his old fella Maurice with combined weight of over 70lb.
WINTER
LEAGUE - Oct 2004
This years Winter League series kicks off on 24th
October with the first match being held at Three Island Pool - Border
Fisheries. The rest of the series is still to be finalised but first
indications are that most will be held at Brookhouse Pool.
PRESENTATION
EVENING
Now that the main match season is over it is getting that
time of the year again for the Presentation Evening. As usual it will
be at the Railway Club, Altrincham where you are guaranteed a great
night out with a great buffet, live band, disco, raffle and of course
the prize giving. This years event is on 4th December and tickets can
be booked through Phil Royle.
ASHLEY POOL - Aug 2004
This
is a water that has suffered badly in the past from cormorant
predation. This small water used to be home to 2lb+ Roach &
Rudd
along with Crucian Carp, Bream and Perch until a number of birds set up
camp there. The good news is that it seems to be making something of a
natural recovery. One or two of the big Roach have shown there faces
again and there are some clonking Perch to be had as well as Skimmer
Bream. If any members fish here would they be king enough to give Ernie
(Head Water keeper) a call and let him know how you got on.
BMAC
- SECURE ANOTHER STRETCH OF THE RIVER DANE - July 2004
More good
news for the club this week in the shape of an additional length of the
River Dane being added to the clubs growing portfolio of waters. I
don't have the full details of the stretch yet other than it is just
through Holmes Chapel near to the viaduct. There is a car park and the
fish stocks are known to hold chub, Roach, Dace and some lovely
Grayling. There have been rumours of Barbel but this has not been
confirmed, however, should anyone be fortunate enough to catch one then
please let me know. This water is open immediately, full details can be
obtained from Stuart Godber.
IMPORTANT NOTICE - June 2004
As I'm sure many of you know, over the closed season the club installed
a new fence at the Cotton Farm stretch of the R. Dane. Cotton Farm who
we rent the water from has come under new ownership in recent months
and the new owner has made it quite clear that he does not want anyone
walking his land who should not be there. The top end of this stretch
has been subject to poaching in seasons past where access was gained
through the housing estate at the top of Bank Farm. On the opening day
of the river season an angler was caught coming through this way and
had climbed over the new fence to which some considerable damage was
caused. To the clubs astonishment this person was a club member. In
your club card it states that the entrance to the river is through
Cotton Hall Farm, no other means of access should be adopted unless
otherwise instructed. If anyone else is caught coming in through any
other way than through Cotton Hall Farm in the future then the club
will not hesitate to eject the culprits from the club.
NEW
CLUB MATCH RECORD - May 2004
There was a fantastic start to the new
match season at Brookside Fisheries. On a day when the Carp were
playing hard to get for a number of anglers Tony Knight went and broke
the long standing 5 hour club match record. Tony took a superb 68lb of
Carp to the scales to overtake the 65lb of Bream Kevin Blythin caught
from Boundry Water Park some years back. Details can be seen in the match
pages.
A big thank you to all that fished and helped raise ?180.00 towards the
Cystic Fibrosis Charity.
