A brief resume of the people who have helped to
bring the club to where it is

Dereck Rennie DERECK RENNIE President
Dereck is a founder member, twenty years, of the Bay Malton Angling Club during which time he has been the club president.

Dereck attends many of the matches with varying degrees of success and if all else fails he enjoys, a couple of cigars and a coffee from his whiskey flask.
In his role as president he  attends all meetings and officiates at the senior presentation evening. He says, "It makes me proud to see the phenomenal rise in our members who believe, like me, in looking after our countryside and waters."

Peter Shuff
PETER SHUFF Chairman
Pete has just rejoined the committee (December 2004) after a years absence due to business commitments. He had previously been the clubs match secretary, a position he held with distinction during his tenure.

An angler with bags of enthusiasm for the club who will ensure the club continues to move in the right direction.

Stewart GodberSTEWART GODBER Secretary
Stewart has been a keen member of the club since 1982 and has a few notable achievements such as: club champion 1997; club canal champion 1999; Whilst his best match weight is 48lbs his best ever catch is 33 bream for 132lbs. Stewart, who has been fishing for forty three years, had his first match win back in 1964. Prior to becoming club sec. Stewart was the match sec.

Dislikes any form of litter around the water but loves big roach and tench on waggler or pole.
Ernie ShuffebothamERNIE SHUFFLEBOTHAM Head water keeper
Ernie has years of experience in 'the land' and is well worth listening to, if you really want to know. In his own words, "I started fishing over forty years ago. I used to fish the ponds and streams around my village; alas these are now all gone, filled in and under concrete. I suppose this is what makes me the staunch conservationist that I am. Having spent most of my life amongst land owners and farmers I have gained much knowledge from them. My uncle was a game keeper, for many years, on a large Cheshire estate. Much of my youth was spent with him learning about  countryside matters: shoots, fisheries, land and wild life management.

I was a member of BMAC at the start, over twenty years ago; in fact I supplied their first pool situated in Tabley, Cheshire. Due to business commitments, however, I had to leave but I am proud to say that since rejoining the clubI like to think I have done my bit towards its success.

I am a member of a number of associations: CPRE, BASC, BFFS, and was a long standing member of the Fresh Water Biological Society and the White Fish Association."
Stan AndertonSTAN ANDERTON Treasurer
Stan has only recently been appointed Treasurer (December 2004) after 4 years as the Chairman and will work towards the day that BMAC is the best, most respected club in the North West.

Coming from a family where both parents were anglers Stan has fished for most of his life. His favourite fish are Rudd, Carp and Grayling with his two favourite waters being Moor Pool and the Gowey. Hates are: litter louts, pot hunters and (?) skull draggers(?).

Phillip RoylePHILIP ROYLE  Match Secretary
Whilst Phil has only been a member of The Bay Malton since 1998 he has been an angler for the past thirty plus years. It is that long experience that he hopes to pass on to the junior members of the club. During the years he has been a Bay Malton member he has won the "Fur & Feather" twice.

The largest fish Phil has ever caught is a 12lb 5oz carp but his favourite fish are tench and chub.

Dominic SwainDOMINIC SWAIN Assistant to the the head bailiff
Dominic Swain was originally from Norfolk where he spent many years fishing the Norwich rivers Wensum and Yare and though self taught became quite good at it.

He has been an active member of BMAC for many years being both on the committee and featuring in the trophy cabinet. After a break for a while he is pleased to be back as an assistant to Ernie, heading the bailiff team. Dominic looks forward to seeing fellow BMAC anglers at the waterside (club cards in hand) and wishes you happy fishing.
