Hi my name is Brian Hyde, along with my son Lewis we are new to the club. We have fished 4 or 5 of the complex waters. This weekend we decided to fish a new water, Lymn dam. Arriving at the water we found there was a match on, so we picked a peg on the opposite site. We set up 2 feeder rods and fished worm with maggot or caster on the hook. The first fish to come to the net was a bream of four pounds, twentyfive slabs later we had done the ton between us. Most of the bream were in the five pound bracket, we had two over seven and a few sixes.A great day especially for my son catching ten bream, the biggest a six pounder .What a great day on a beautiful water.

The two Pike, above, were caught in a week by my son Paul Barrow, the first one was 25lb caught on the 30,12,07 the second one was 20lb caught on the 05,01,08, both were caught using ledgered herring tail, the weather for the first one was a cold crisp day, and the water was fairly clear, for the second one the weather was mild, water cloudy. Best regards, Mike Barrow.

On
Saturday I decided to take a
walk round Lymm Dam to look at the work that has been carried out by
the water management team. It took me nearly two hours to get round the
lake. Time was taken up talking to members and day ticket holders. By
the time I had completed the circuit I felt really proud of being part
of the Bay Malton Angling Club. When talking to members they were
saying how excellent the fishing is on all the club waters with fishing
catering for everyone, not having to worry about parking their
vehicles, how easy the access is to the waters, safe staging to fish
from, the quality of the fish and the many different types of fishing.
Members were pleased about the new stretch of the River Dane at Manor
Farm and with how well it is fishing with big bags of Chub,
good
sized Grayling and once again good access and secure parking.
Also
the the regeneration program of Lymm Dam which is producing 100lb plus
bags of
Bream, 40lb plus bags of Roach and double figure
Pike. The new
staging on the water and the good news of the ACA holding the the North
West Pike championships on the water.
I could go on for ever about the things members were saying to me but I need to get to the point of why I am putting pen to paper which is this: All the staging, secure parking, excellent fishing has been created by nineteen people, nine of them being committee members and ten water management team members. These people look after all the club waters.
The
water management team are out every Saturday maintaining all the waters
so that everyone can enjoy their sport. However they can only do so
much and because the club is expanding more help is needed. More
bailiffs and more members to take part on the odd Saturday to help the
club go forward and maintain the high standards that all landowners
talk about. So if any members can help the water management team
contact Ernie Shufflebotham and
give
him a lift on your club waters.
This is open to anyone, member or non member, we do not mind. There are
great rewards for your help so give Ernie a call.
Looking back over the last thirty one years, from being one of the first junior members in a small pub club and feeling very passionate about my sport, the countryside, and seeing how e have grown to be a major club in the angling community. Our excellent relationship with the Environment Agency and our members. Thirty one years ago it seemed a dream but that dream has come true. With the hard work of the committee who are very passionate about the club and the sport there is only one thing left to say; it can only get better and better.
A very proud chairman

Local import Alan Smith (Brummie) had a Sunday evening to remember on Lymm Dam. Fishing pellet, his catch included a Bream of 6lbs 14ozs, a hen Tench of 4lbs 6ozs in absolute mint condition. His catch also included one Roach 2lbs 2ozs, eight more over 1lb along with skimmers and small fish.
Late Wednesday afternoon saw Bream from up to 6lbs coming out from both banks.

Well June 16th came, decided to take the chance to go to the River Dane after a week of rain, as you can expect on arrival it was in full flood.
So
me & Bob decided to go to Lymm Dam, We decided to fish in the
shallows using ground bait feeder, started off with five to
six
casts to get the fish used to the splash of the feeder and to
lay
a carpet of ground bait and caster on the bed of the Dam, and
triple red maggot on the hook. After a couple of minutes I was getting
indications on the tip and striking but no fish.
All 3
maggots had been sucked dry so after a couple of attempt of triple
maggot and no catch I decided to thread a single castor on to
a
size 16 hook and within about 10 seconds of tightening up my line,
my tip swung
round,
I struck and landed a 1lb 6oz roach in immaculate condition. I
went back in again with single castor and within seconds of tightening
up my tip swung round again with the same force as a
roach
then having struck I realized this was a much bigger fish, I played the
fish for approx 2 mins and then lost it. Feeling rather sick I went
back in again with single castor and did not get a bite for at
least 1/2 hour. I then decided to change back to triple maggot as
soon as I tightened my line again within seconds my tip swung
around and I was into another decent sized fish, taking longer to play
the fish I finally landed it to find it was a 4lb bream. After
the
1/2 hour wait I was very happy with this sized fish. Once again I
tried triple red maggot
and
within
seconds my tip swung and I landed another bream this time 5ib. This
continued for the next 3 hours catching bream from 4 -
6lb. Having lost count after the 15th I had well over 45lb
of Bream. After not fishing the dam in 25
years I have
had the best days fishing on the feeder I have ever had. I
know if
I would have stayed for a further 3 hours I would have bagged
well
over 100lbs. I am supposed to be going to the river on 23rd June but no
doubt I will end up on Lymm Dam. Can't Wait!
Tight lines Peter Shuff
P.S Bob Campbell landed 3 bream between 5-6lb on the waggler
and
net full of roach.
