Bay v Prince Albert round two
Well, we beat P.A. blue in the first round and drew P.A. top team in round two. That was first round to me! I change the venue to Brook House Farm which was a shock to them. Where is it? What's in it?
Day of the match: 27-4-08. Kight Mans Teams.
Odds or evens? We got odds and first up was Les Hunt. I sat behind him and his opposite number most of the match. I must say it looked like Les had been beaten. But Les put 16-02-00 in his net. Big shock, his opposite only 13-06-00, one up to the BAY.
Next up was Neil Jellis. It started slow for Neil, not for his opposite number he started catching right away. Neil found the fish and put a good 9-8-00 in the net but was beaten by 14-07-00. Hard luck Neil.
Next up was Steve Lane. Well what can you say about Steve and this water. Every time we fish it he draw peg 5-6-7 car park side. And yes he did it again on peg 7 and had top weight of 20-08-00 on the day. Well done Steve. 2 - 1 to the Bay. His opposite 15-08-00, their top weight.
Next up was Mike Stott. Started right from the off but all small fish. Mike had 11-07-00 but his opposite 12-12-00. Hard luck mike. 2all.
Gary Marsland was next up drawing first peg on the field side. Started slow but kept going putting one of the biggest Perch I've seen in a long time in the net, a fish of around 2lb+ to go with the rest of his bag = 10-11-00. His opposite 6-13-00. Back to 3 - 2 Bay.
Next up was Lee Cooper. It breaks my heart this, slow start slow middle and a slow end. Lee found Tench, Carp, Roach and Rudd for 3-0-0. His opposite had a bonus fish right at the death, a skimmer about one inch long. His weight 3-1-0. Yeas 1oz that's all it was. 3 - 3.~
Next up Bob Lane. Slow all through the match for Bob. For him putting 3-12-00 was his lowest weight on this water to date. His opposite 9-1-00. 3 - 4 to P.A.
Last match. Colin Dixon found fish right away putting four fish in his net then it slowed up but found them again near to the end. It was to late, Colin's 8-14-00 beaten by 11-00-00. 3 - 5 to P.A.
After the match some of the P.A. anglers came up to me and said they thought Brookhouse was a fantastic water and wish they had a water like it; great pegs and great fish.Well that's it for this years V.D.E. match and I must say a big thank you all the lads in the team.
Steve Brown; Steve Lane; Bob Lane; Neil Jellis (capt.); Les Hobson; Les Hunt; Mike Stott; Lee Cooper; John Cooper; Mike Wilson; Garry Marsland; Colin Dixon; Andy Green; Dicko; Chris Pearce; Pete Shuff.
Thanks Lads
Royley
P.S. If you like Perch get down to Brookhouse. The club record will come from this water, I'll put my money on it!

Van Den Eyde Match 9/3/08
Our first home draw in the competition so we took them on the specimen lake at Border to which I must say a big thank you to Stu and Frank for letting us close it for the day. The day started ok, weather sunny but cold , not to bad. Eight man teams on the day, our first eight turned but theres did not so they had to use their sub.
Pegs used on the day were: 2-3-8-9-10-11-17-18-19-20-22-23-24-25-27-28. There were no bank runners on the day so we could not see all anglers from where we were.
They drew pegs 2-8-10-17-19-22-24-27 which left us with pegs 3-9-11-18-20-23-25-28 which team captain N. Jellis said he would like.
The day got better and better. The all in 10.30. They started catching right away off pegs 8-24-27 but with the team we had out there we were not concerned. So unconcerned that Browny and I took off to Stapeley Water Gardens to look at some gear.
When we got back things had changed. Les Hunt, Les Hobson, Neil Jellis, Steve Lane and Mike Stott had all found fish.
I must say at this point a big thank you to Neil Jellis and Les Hobson for their work on all the pegs used on the day.
15.30 all out and we are not sure how it has gone. Les Hunt, no problem. Neil, no problem. Mike Stott, not sure.
Down to the draw, peg 2 first, 12-09-00. Peg 3 only 2-9-0, Carp and Chub no show, hard luck Lee. Peg 8 12-05-00. Peg 9 had Mike More to right his weight 16-11-00, well done Mike. Pegs 10 - 12 Peg 10 2-4-0 so had Stew got better in his wet? Yes he had: 14-12-00 he must have had his big Carp when Browny and myself were at Stapeley. Well done Steve. Bay 2 - 1 up.
Pegs 17 - 18 . 17, 14-12-00, so Andy it's your turn, only 8-06-00, again hard luck Andy, lost to many big fish.
Pegs 19 - 20 peg 19 10-12-00 so John it's your turn only 4-7-0 again hard luck. Pegs 22-23, we could not see this pair but were told that 22 had a big Carp, goodness, he had it weighed 25-00-00. Well done Les Hobson.
Pegs 25 - 25. Peg 24 09-09-00, no problem. Les Hunt top weight with 38-11-00, our ACE in the bag.
Pegs 27-28, 27 02-06-00 had Neil Beaten it, sat on the last peg. He is not club champion for nothing, 13-01-00, well done Neil. We did it!
Five sections won and through to the next round. I must say a big thank you to all the squad, not just the eight that fished on the day.
Neil Jellis; Les Hobson; Les Hunt; Lee Cooper; John Cooper; Andy Green; Stu Lane; Mike Stott.
Gary MArsland; Colin DIxon; Bob Lane; Mike Wilson; Dicko; Pete Shuff; Steve Brown; Phill Royle.
Well, off to practice for the next round. See you for now, Royley

BMAC trip to Drayton and results
Well this wonderful day arrived and I think all twenty anglers didn't sleep the night before including me. Every body arrived at Nixons on time and the coach departed. An hour of driving we decided to stop for breakfast at the motorway services. After filling ourselves we all got back on the coach and the driver tried to reverse back but the air breaks would not release. This is it we thought, no Drayton. After half an hour of world wide knowledge of air breaks we managed to release them by pulling the right lever. We were on our way again.
Every one was in good spirits, the sun was shining, weather forecast showed scorching sunshine but how was the fishing going to be. We arrived at Drayton 9am and the coach was unloaded at warp factor 6. The draw was also done in record time and next thing you know we were tackling up with carp and barbel rods and 15lb line at the ready.
Some members fished bagging waggler and some fished method feeder. At 10.30 the all in was sounded and we wasted no time in getting in the mountains of ground bait and boilies then we waited. Within half an hour floats were zooming off, rod tips flying round, 30 yards of line flying off the reel before you could stop the fish, then another 20 yards of extra line to play the fish.
It was excellent. I can not describe the atmosphere of the fishing, it was one fish after another, if you could land them all, weighing 10 and 15lb. As I turned to my left Les Hunt, our reigning match angler for 4 years, couldn't go wrong on the bagging waggler, with fish after fish producing a winning weight of 235lbs, a new club record. Well done Les. Well done to every one on the day smashing their personal best with only 5 fish. Drayton didn't let us down, cannot wait to go again next year .
