Merrydale

July 16th 2006

Just a note to say what a great day I had on this pool, again. Lost count of good roach I had plus all the small ones. Sunny conditions, baits corn, bread, meat, cheese paste all fished about 18" depth couldnt go wrong. Apart from a couple of hours I was by myself. One other member came, stayed 2 hours then packed up and went. Just don't understand why it isn't more popular, well I do, it doesn't have any Carp.

Geese at Merrydale poolFishing to me is as much about sitting in the right surroundings, listening to nothing in particular and watching things apart from a float. You will gather that I am not strong on technique. A sliding knot, to save replumbing, a dome waggler with two BB's and two No.1's and I'm away. So, if I can catch fish at Merrydale anyone can.

A gorgeous day gave countless small Rudd, a few from the previous generation, a few from the generation before that. The Rudd were broken up by three Tench in quick succession then back to the Rudd. This was all on corn. A change to slivers of meat, for no particular reason, brought two Perch, back to corn and yet more Rudd with two more Tench and then more Rudd. I felt almost competent. So why the picture of geese - because if you throw any bait in about six geese and one gosling plus two ducks and five ducklings will zoom across to that area like rockets. Makes it a bit pointless throwing anything in. Merrydale pool, highly recommended, especially for your son or daughter. P.C.
