River Gowy

Nags Head end of the Gowy
There are three stretches of the Gowy one of which, Plemstal, is fly only. The river, which some might consider small, is in an attractive setting which makes for a pleasant day out. Trout; Grayling; Dace; Eels plus others. All fishing is catch and release.
The Nags HeadThe times I have fished here the greatest success has come when trotting. However if I fished fly (you never know) I would start off at the Plemstal end in the morning and work my way down to the Nag's Head in time for lunch. I have talked to the landlord and he does not mind you using the beer garden to eat your sandwiches, though using your flask might be pushing it a bit. Better still try the restaurant as you will get a great value meal for about six pounds (2007). Lunch done with I would then work my way back up the Gowy. This is a very under fished river so you can look forward to a quiet day in peaceful surroundings.
Parking is easy and convenient on all three stretches. Rules apply please do consult your club book.
