Water reports on the
River Gowy
October 29th 2009

Please find attached 2 photos of a
Chub (just under 5lb - weighed 5lb
exactly in landing net, probably circa 4lb 10oz) I caught in July from
the river Gowy in Mickle Trafford. It was caught using a simple running
ledger rig on 6lb line and a size 14 specimen barbless hook baited with
3 pieces of sweetcorn. I often walk along the river as a means of
relaxation after work (I live 1 mile away from it) and have seen a
Mirror Carp that I believe to be approaching 20lb, along with some
really big perch (close to 3lb?) and pike approaching double figures
Other species I have caught from the river include Perch (up to 2lbs)
Dace, Roach (up to 1lb and in amazing condition) Rudd, Eels and Gudgeon.
Kind Regards
Dave Moss
