Introducing myself

Hi, my name is Chris Gilbert, I'm 15, and I have been fishing for 11 years.
ChrisMy Dad first introduced me to fishing when I was 4 as he was a bailiff; this meant that we had time to fish regularly. At that time I started off by fishing mainly for little 'gems' i.e. nice sized Roach, Bream, Crucians, Rudd, and a few small Carp. I first really got my passion for fishing when I caught my first 3lber; which I know doesn't sound much, but at the age of 5 it felt like a whacker. As the years went on, my skill increased and at the age of 9 I was fishing on small mill ponds for very hard to catch Carp and Tench. The many years I spent on small mill ponds helped me understand how fish naturally behave and what baits/methods work best. It was only at the age of 10 I started to fish commercial fisheries. This style of fishing was a lot different to fishing on small mill ponds, asChris with Carp the fish were a lot more agreeable to certain baits/methods and were considerably easier to catch. Over the years I have built up my knowledge firsthand by trying out different: methods, baits, tactics, styles of fishing, and also by talking to many other anglers, including Matt Hayes, John Wilson, Bob Nudd,Perch and Dean Macey. Throughout the fish-filled years I have picked up many tip and tricks in Match, River, Pike, Lake, Carp, and Sea fishing which have made me altogether a better angler.
More recently down the line I have concentrated on pleasure angling at the weekends as it is very relaxing and rewarding, I have also passed on my knowledge to any angler that wants it i.e. “howriver do you….”, “what should I do if…”. This is mainly why I decided to contribute and join ‘Roving Reports’, as I have had so much help over the years, and I have been so fortunate to be able to fish and practice methods with my Dad, that I wanted to give something back to the angling community. To pass on my own knowledge and give advice to anyone who needs it.
I will soon post the first of many fishing reports that will consist of what the water was like, what baits work best, what methods/baits are the most effective, fishing hotspots, general overview, what other anglers think of the water, and finally what I think.
